SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – After the “Hands Off” protests were held across the country on April 5, drawing millions of people to voice concerns about the current presidency and massive cuts to agencies and programs, a second one has been scheduled
On April 19, a Day of Action is planned.
In South Lake Tahoe, people are invited to join a peaceful gathering at Lakeview Commons from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to exercise their First Amendment rights in support of any number of issues.
For those who are interested, at 10:30 a.m., people will be marching to the Earth Day Festival at Lake Tahoe Community College. “We are united in our commitment to community, our planet, and all who inhabit it. Please be safe – stay on the sidewalks and utilize crosswalks,” said organizers.
The 50501 grassroots organization is spearheading the nationwide protests under the slogan of “50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement.” They hope to bring people together as a “sustained resistance in order to make a difference.” Local activists organize the protests in their own communities, as they are in South lake Tahoe.
