SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) and Tahoe Alliance for Safe Kids (TASK) are participating in a nationwide Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 18, 2026. They will be set up inside the South Lake Tahoe Earth Day Festival at Lake Tahoe Community College from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Take Back Day helps prevent medication misuse and accidental poisoning, especially with addictive opioids. Proper disposal also protects the environment by keeping medication out of water systems. Get more information at the booth on how to safely dispose of unused medication at home and lock up medications, along with other TASK information.
Accepted will be unused or expired prescription medication, vitamins, and pet medications.
