South Lake Tahoe resident Johnathan Alberto Lemus, 27, was arrested on Saturday, April 11 on multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon.

According to police reports, Lemus allegedly stole a tip jar from Tahoe Bowl and left the business located on Fremont Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. The Police Department was called and as they were taking the report the suspect was spotted by a High Sierra Patrol security officer at nearby Inn by the Lake.

Upon investigation it was found that Lemus had four outstanding warrants. He was arrested for the warrants as well as new charges added because they found a spoon, needle and heroin in his possession. Tahoe Bowl did not want to prosecute for the theft.

The warrant for Assault With a Deadly Weapon stems from and alleged battery against his brother Marvin in 2013. Johnathan was charged with attempting to restrain his then 22-year old brother on the ground and set him on fire according to South Lake Tahoe Police Lieutenant Brian Williams. He was unsuccessful in the attempt.

The other warrants were from other South Lake Tahoe crimes, mostly involving mostly involving drugs and thefts according to Williams.

Johnathan Lemus is being held in the El Dorado County Jail on $114,500 bail.
