SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The statue of the Holy Family outside of St. Theresa Church was recently vandalized. A rock was used to knock the head off of Mary. This follows two other incidents over the past two months where pro-life displays inside the church hallway were stolen.
The Holy Family statue features Mary, Joseph, and Jesus, accompanied by a plaque that states the statue is dedicated to unborn children. Church staff believe the incidents are related due to what was targeted.
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is treating these incidents as a hate crime. If anyone has information, please email cybertips@cityofslt.us.
On Monday, the statue was being repaired as shown in the photo.
