Greetings fellow El Dorado County citizens,
I want to ask you a few questions.
Where can your child begin learning to read? Where can you learn about and access critical community services? Where can you rent DVDs of movies, TV series, and documentaries for free? Where is there a safe space for teens to be teens? Where can you get a book about raptors? Where are there programs for ages 2-100+? Where can you access materials from libraries throughout California?
That amazing place is the El Dorado County Library right in the middle of South Lake Tahoe!
The South Lake Tahoe branch of the El Dorado County Library system had been providing access to books and programming for 78 years. The Library is 75 percent funded by a parcel tax assessment that is coming up for renewal this June 2, 2026. I would like you, fellow citizens, to consider what our library, and more importantly, our community, would look like with only 25 percent of the funding it currently has.
If you do not like that vision, please vote Yes on Measure B this coming June.
