SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The City of South Lake Tahoe will officially open its new Multigenerational Recreation and Aquatics Center with a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Saturday, April 18. The event will include facility tours and live demonstrations highlighting the center’s amenities.
The ceremony is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with open house tours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The new center is located at 1100 Rufus Allen Blvd., adjacent to the library.
Be among the first to explore the new facility with guided tours, meet the staff who bring this building to life, and learn more about the activities and opportunities the center will offer. Throughout the event, guests will also have chances to win prizes and experience everything the new space has to offer.
Bring your family, invite your friends, and help us kick off this exciting new chapter for recreation in our community!
This state-of-the-art facility is designed to serve all ages and abilities. The center features a wide range of recreation and fitness spaces, multipurpose rooms, a gymnasium, and an expansive aquatics area.
Parking at the new Recreation & Aquatics Center is limited for the Grand Opening event, so guests are encouraged to carpool whenever possible. Additional off-site parking will be available at the current Recreation Center (1180 Rufus Allen Blvd) and at Lakeview Commons. A parking shuttle will operate from 9:15 to 9:50 a.m. to bring guests from those off-site parking locations to the Recreation & Aquatics Center in time for the 10:00 a.m. opening ceremonies. The following routes may help get close to the Recreation & Aquatics Center:
- Route 50 – Runs along US-50/Lake Tahoe Blvd between the Y Transit Center and Stateline, with buses approximately every 30 minutes.
- Route 55 – Connects areas including Lake Tahoe Community College, Zephyr Cove, Round Hill, and Stateline, with transfer opportunities to Route 50.
Guests can also use Lake Link, a free on-demand microtransit shuttle that operates throughout the South Shore. Riders can request a ride through the Lake Link app or by phone for convenient pick-up and drop-off within the service area.
The City has announced a South Lake Tahoe City Council Special Meeting for the grand opening, as council members will be in attendance.
