SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On April 9, 2026, the Republican Women of California South Lake Tahoe (RWC-SLT) continued its monthly luncheon speaker series with two guest speakers – South Lake Tahoe Police Chief Jeff Roberson and Christine Bish, congressional candidate, District 3.
The first speaker was Christine Bish, who is a 2026 Republican candidate for Congress, District 3. Her career experience includes working as a realtor, a financial investigator for a law firm for 10 years, and the Sacramento area director of the Educational Freedom Initiative. Interestingly, Bish has some Tahoe roots as well. Her mother owned a Tahoe restaurant called “My Favorite Place” near Safeway in the 1980s.
Bish is committed to: (1) The Environment, (2) Senior Citizens, (3) No Taxation of Social Security Benefits, (4) Parental Rights, and (5) Veterans and their Healthcare rights and choices. The second speaker was Jeff Roberson, SLT police chief. Chief Roberson talked about his background and his career path to recently becoming South Lake Tahoe’s police chief. His career spans 30 years, with 18 years being on the SWAT team.
Chief Roberson discussed enforcing the laws and keeping South Lake Tahoe residents safe. He discussed Tahoe’s issues with boat safety officers due to PERS issues, that drugs are now a felony again due to the passage of Prop 36, the California Values Act, and the Caldor Fire evacuation.
The Chief fielded many questions from the audience and was asked to return to speak as there were so many other questions, and he was so well-received.
RWC-SLT meets most months on the second Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The May 14 meeting will be held at 5:30 pm to give working women an opportunity to attend. The objectives of this organization are to support political education and activity and promote the principles and policies of the Republican Party. RWC-SLT also helps elect Republican candidates.
