LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced they are set to begin its final season of repaving project on the US50 stretch from Stateline to Spooner Summit. Summit.

Project Areas:

  • Starting April 27 crews will begin drainage work in the one-mile section of U.S. 50 from Round Hill to Zephyr Cove. This section was skipped last year to avoid any possible damage to the new pavement during the drainage improvements as part of the Nevada Tahoe Conservation District project at Bourne’s Meadow. Paving is anticipated to begin in this area mid-July (after American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament).
  • Once the Bourne’s Meadow section is completed, work will begin on paving the remaining 7.5 miles just south of Cave Rock to Spooner Summit Trailhead.
  • Install over 1,000 feet of new pipe and 17 new inlets to tie into the new basins constructed last summer at Bourne’s Meadows
  • Pave 7.5 miles
  • Finalize 24,675 feet of the remaining roadside curb and gutter installed from Cave Rock to Spooner Summit
  • Install 11,394 feet of Barrier rail with texture and colored concrete, this will replacing existing guardrail. Replace 15,118 feet of guardrail. Guardrail removal and installation near Glenbrook will begin in late-April/early-May.
  • New signal modifications throughout the Stateline corridor area later in summer. Crews will add signal head retroreflective borders that are more visible in daytime and nighttime conditions, new pedestrian buttons, new LED luminaires (street lights) and some will get new cabinets and controls to optimize traffic signal operations and reliability.

Working Hours:

Starting April 27, drivers will see lane reductions or other traffic controls related to the project until completion this October.Working hours are Sundays at 8 p.m. through Fridays at noon.No work is anticipated Thursday, July 2 at noon until Sunday, July 12, 8 p.m.

Scheduling consideration will be given to major events (i.e. outdoor concerts, specials events, competitions, school schedules, etc.) to maintain smooth traffic flow
