SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – It’s going to be a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend at Lake Tahoe, but first we need to get through some rain at lake level and upper elevation snow. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. As the system moves on, clearing skies come in, and temperatures start to rise.
Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.

Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11 am. Snow level 8200 feet. High near 49. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.
