SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A change to the weather pattern for Lake Tahoe is expected next week as incoming low-pressure systems provide increased winds,
cooler temperatures, and wetter conditions.

There is even a chance of snow on Friday.

Drier air is pushing into the northern half of the forecast area on Monday with a shift to a wetter, cooler pattern on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

By Thursday, temperatures will be cooler (~5-10 degrees below average) than have been seen the past few days. Snow levels will drop to 7,000-8,000` so higher elevation passes could see some light snow accumulations, especially during the overnight/morning hours.

The models show the Lake Tahoe forecast then moving to a cooler pattern through next week.

The 7-day forecast from NWS:

Monday – Sunny, with a high near 69. Light west wind becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Monday Night – Mostly clear, with a low around 34. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday – Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday Night – Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Wednesday – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59.

Wednesday Night – A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then a chance of showers after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday – Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 48.
