An armed man walked into the Kings Beach branch of the Plumas Bank Friday morning, demanding money of two clerks. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect, identified as 55 year old Brent Muir of Carson City, was sighted near Sand Harbor by FBI agents responding to the robbery from South Lake Tahoe.
Details released by Nevada Highway Patrol say the after leaving the bank in a Tan 2008 Chevrolet Impala, Muir drove to the Sand Harbor area of Lake Tahoe where he was observed by federal law enforcement. As he left the Sand Harbor area, the FBI requested the Nevada Highway Patrol initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle.
As the NHP was preparing to locate the vehicle to make a traffic stop, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies (DSCO) and the Carson City Sheriff’s Office began to assist with the stop of the vehicle. Muir began to elude all agencies. Mr. Muir led officers on a short pursuit through parts of south Carson City when he finally stopped his vehicle at the corner of California Street and Industrial Park Drive just south of Fairview Drive. He then exited his vehicle and fled on foot.
After a short foot pursuit he was caught and detained by DCSO. The NHP took custody of Muir and placed him under arrest for Felony Eluding, Reckless Driving, and Driving with no valid D/L.
After an inventory of the vehicle, a weapon and money suspected of being from the robbery was found inside. Charges stemming from the robbery are pending further investigation from the Federal Bureau of Investigations and Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
