SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On May 23, 2026, at approximately 5:03 p.m., a 2010 Honda Fit driven by a 33-year-old male was traveling west on US-50 approaching Sierra Ski Ranch Road. At the same time, a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 41-year-old male, was traveling east on US-50 when it was approaching the Honda. As the two vehicles were about to pass each other, the Honda made an unsafe turning movement into the path of the Chevrolet causing a collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Barton Hospital with moderate injuries, and the driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
Information concerning the name of the deceased us being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Any witnesses with information regarding this traffic collision are asked to call Officer Renk at the South Lake Tahoe CHP Office at (530) 539-9500.
