INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – Incline Village REALTORS® received a $139,500 Issues Mobilization Grant with additional monies provided by South Tahoe Association of REALTORS®, Sierra Nevada REALTORS®, Nevada REALTORS® and the Resort Alliance to fund the first multistate study of Lake Tahoe by RRC and AEG consultants. This is meant to advance efforts to improve understanding of the impact of short-term rentals across the Lake Tahoe region.

The survey goes out this month to Lake Tahoe residents in Nevada and California. Residents can respond by QR code, mail, or email.  Results will be published later this fall and shared with the public in their communities.

On April 15, 2026, Jack Greacen, a consultant from AEG Associates, outlined the importance of this study at the Lake Tahoe Housing Forum in Incline Village, to forty REALTOR® board members representing Lake Tahoe. Representatives from the Tahoe Regional Planning Association, Incline Village Crystal Bay Association, Incline Village General Improvement District and Nevada Land Management representatives, also participated in the event. The public can view the results of similar studies of resort communities published by RRC on the Resort Alliance website.

REALTOR® associations around Lake Tahoe will use the data to work with housing partners, local leaders and community stakeholders to inform best practices for short-term rentals in the Lake Tahoe Basin.  In addition to funding, local REALTORS® will support the initiative by participating in their community, housing committees and working groups to advocate for short-term rental policies that pose positive solutions in the Tahoe Basin.

“IVR is grateful to have the support of so many entities. We are excited to move forward with this STR study so we can provide accurate, non-biased data to everyone moving forward. It will help us understand short-term rentals from a regional and local perspective,” said Kristina Mattson, 2026 IVR president.

The grant award is made possible by the National Association of REALTORS® as part of its Issues Mobilization program, which empowers REALTOR® associations to strengthen their communities through effective advocacy, partnerships, and on-the-ground initiatives.

Collaborative efforts like this between multistate associations of REALTORS® and local planning agencies support homeowners, our community, and policies that help individuals and families understand the issues and best practices for our Lake Tahoe economy and our residents in both CA and NV. By awarding this grant, the National Association of REALTORS® is investing in solutions that strengthen housing pathways and support a stronger housing market.

Initiatives like the short-term rental survey of Lake Tahoe reflect REALTORS®’ role beyond the transaction—bringing market expertise, policy insight and advocacy leadership to community development efforts that improve access to homeownership and strengthen communities.
