EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – The large-scale search effort for 60-year-old Jason Coughran has concluded, with no sign of the man missing in Desolation Wilderness near Fallen Leaf Lake. However, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said the missing person investigation is still active and remains open.
“As leads develop in the case, additional search efforts will be conducted,” said EDSO Sgt. Kyle Parker. “The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to locating Mr. Coughran.”
Coughran was reported overdue from a hiking trip and believed to have been seen on Monday, May 25, near Angora Peak at 11 a.m. At one point, almost 200 search and rescue team members were in the area, attempting to find the hiker.
Coughran is described as 6’2″, 150 pounds, with an athletic build.
