UPDATE: The 13-year-old cyclist involved in Saturday’s crash has died. The Washoe County Coroner’s Office said the time of death was 2:55 p.m. Saturday. She passed away at the Renown Medical Center in Nevada.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. A 13-year old South Tahoe Middle School student suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit be a car Saturday morning.
At 7:50 a.m. Saturday, June 7, the girl was riding her e-bike on Lake Tahoe Blvd. at Sawmill Road. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 56-year old female driver from South Lake Tahoe was eastbound on Lake Tahoe Blvd. when she collided with the cyclist who was in the crosswalk. The teen was propelled into the air and hit a “snow paddle marker.” She was transported to Barton but her current condition and location have not been released
CHP credited fire personnel at the scene for their heroic efforts to save the cyclist. They also want to thank everyone at the scene for their help, cooperation and support.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all involved, ” stated CHP in a press release.
