LAKE TAHOE, Calif. –  Caltrans is advising motorists of the resumption of two construction projects within the Lake Tahoe basin next week.

Along State Route 28 (SR 28), construction on a $31.7 million Caltrans pavement rehabilitation project resumes. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka. Last fall, crews completed resurfacing SR 28 through Tahoe City and have recently returned to paint crosswalks, traffic lanes, and green bike lane treatment through the Tahoe City area.

Grinding and paving operations are scheduled with one-way traffic control along SR 28 for the following times and locations next week:

  • 7 p.m. Sunday, June 7 until 7 a.m. Monday, June 8, between Tahoe State Park and Villas Road.
  • 7 p.m. Monday, June 8 until 7 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, between Burton Creek Drive and Old County Road.
  • 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 9 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, between Chinquapin Drive and Ridgewood Drive.
  • 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10 until 7 a.m. Thursday, June 11, between Jeffrey Way and Sahara Drive.
  • 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11 until 7 a.m. Friday, June 12, between Onyx Street and Stag Drive

Drainage work is scheduled with one-way traffic control along SR 28 between Lake Forest Road and Dollar Drive from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 8, through Thursday, June 11. Work is also scheduled on Friday, June 12, from 6 a.m. until noon.

Electrical work is scheduled along SR 28 between West Agatam Avenue and National Avenue and between Brassie Avenue and Beach Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 8 through Thursday, June 11. Work is also scheduled Friday, June 12 from 6 a.m. until noon.

The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

Utility work is scheduled with one-way traffic control along State Route 89 at the following locations and times:

  • Monday, June 8, through Friday, June 12, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. between the Alpine/El Dorado County line and the U.S. Highway 50 junction in Meyers
  • Monday, June 8, through Thursday, June 11, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. between Pope Beach Road and Cascade Creek. Work is also scheduled on Friday, June 12, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
  • Monday, June 8 through Thursday, June 11, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. between Victoria Drive and Sugar Pine Point Campground. Work is also scheduled on Friday, June 12, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Motorists could encounter delays of up to 20 minutes due to construction activitiesPlease allow for extra time to reach your destination, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays.
