SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for the Greater Lake Tahoe area for Monday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Expect winds from the southwest, 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Waves on Lake Tahoe could be 1-3 feet.

Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

A new trough enters the region with the wind, but it will be short-lived, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. Temperatures trend downward to near or below the early June seasonal averages into mid-week. Gusty winds and shower chances return Monday into early Tuesday, then dry and warm starting Wednesday.

There is a chance for a couple of hours on Monday of elevated fire weather, but the bigger danger has been abated due to the moisture coming in with this trough. There is a chance of some rain in some areas on Monday.
