As the first day of summer approaches, Mother Nature is having some second thoughts. There i a Lake Wind Advisory in effect on Friday, June 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with winds from the southwest 15-20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.

Waves on Lake Tahoe will be 2-3 feet. Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

A cooling trend to below average temperatures is expected for the weekend. Breezy afternoons and evenings will persist through Saturday, with the strongest winds Friday ahead of a cold front. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible through the weekend becoming more widespread in the region on Sunday.

Saturday – Sunny, with a high near 68. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday Night – Mostly clear, with a low around 39. West wind 10 to 15 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Sunday – A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 63.
