SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A guided tour of the historic Al Tahoe Pioneer Cemetery will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. Learn about those who came before us and settled in the towns of Rowlands and Bijou, long before there were many year-long residents or paved roads.
Those on the tours will also hear stories about some of Tahoe’s earliest settlers!
The tours are a $10-per-person donation, and proceeds go to the restoration efforts at the cemetery. Improvements planned this summer are stone grave markers that will be placed on the locations where ground-penetrating sonar detected over 100 gravesites.
To make a reservation, stop by the Lake Tahoe Historical Museum, 3058 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, Thursday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or call 530.541.5458 and leave a message. Space is limited, and money will not be collected during the tour.
The cemetery is located at 760 Alameda Ave., South Lake Tahoe, and sorry, no pets allowed.
