SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Lake Tahoe Historical Society begins the next season of its popular Tahoe History Talks on the Beach on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Long-time locals, the Borges Brothers, will lead the talks.
Dean, David and Dwight Borges grew up on the South Shore along with their brother Don. The popular group has kicked off each year of history talks, and this year’s has a special meaning, a tribute to Don, who passed away earlier this year.
The brothers will talk about the history of the flumes that carried wood from Lake Tahoe, the “incline” of Incline Village, and the Borges family’s long history in Tahoe. As was Don’s favorite thing to do, the talk will end with the singing of the theme song from “Bonanza,” the popular TV Series that ran for 431 episodes over 14 years from 1959 to 1973.
The weekly Tuesday talks are at Lakeview Commons in South Lake Tahoe. Seating is on the cement steps above El Dorado Beach, so you may want to bring a cushion to sit on.
