LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. – As summer travel demand increases throughout the Tahoe Basin, residents and visitors should anticipate periodic travel delays resulting from a combination of roadway construction projects, visitor travel volumes, special events, and seasonal congestion.
These conditions, combined with a current operator staffing shortage, may affect transit service operations and travel times across the region. Tahoe Transportation District is actively monitoring, responding and adjusting operations where it is feasible to maintain on-time service.
To help riders make informed travel decisions, TTD encourages all transit users to download the FREE Transit app for real-time tracking, service alerts, trip planning, and arrival information. When the transit schedule is impacted by factors beyond our control, TTD will alert passengers through the Transit app. The app can be downloaded through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Know Before you Go
• Expect increased travel times throughout the summer season.
• Allow additional time for trips, particularly during weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Construction activities and traffic congestion may impact transit schedules.
• Download and use the Transit app to access real-time service information and plan trips accordingly.
Choosing transit can help reduce roadway congestion and parking demand at popular destinations or choose alternative modes such as micro-mobility options like e-bikes, e-scooters, or bicycles.
