Barton Health has announced that Sue Fairley, RN, has been named their new Vice President of Nursing and Ancillary Services. She replaces Mary Bittner, RN, who left in April to pursue a health care teaching career.

Fairley has been in nursing at Barton Health for the last 17 years. In 2004 she became the Director of Nursing and has been serving as the interim Vice President of nursing since Bittner’s departure.

“Sue has led our amazing nursing teams well and has always had the patient, support from employees, and Barton’s mission at the center of her leadership decisions,” states John G. Williams, Barton’s Chief Executive. “Her collaborative management style will help serve Barton in the years to come as we continue to address the changing health care environment.”

Sue’s responsibilities include oversight of many of the clinical departments at the hospital. She develops and supports the nursing practice throughout Barton Health. She will collaborate with medical staff, board of directors, and clinical leaders to develop and implement patient care programs, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance strategies.

Sue is excited to assume her new role. Her goals are to build and provide ongoing support for Barton Health staff and to develop a strong professional relationship between nursing, physicians and the community.

Sue says: “Through collaboration and innovation, I hope to enhance and sustain care to meet the needs of both local and visiting patients.”
