SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – In December 2024, we brought the story of a young South Lake Tahoe girl, Charley Nolis, who was unexpectedly diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma Cancer. The tumor had originated in her spine and had metastasized to almost every part of her little 2-year-old body. In the last seven months, Charley has undergone intense treatment consisting of five rounds of chemotherapy, surgery to remove the main tumor from her spine, and two rounds of stem cell transplants with radiation and immunotherapy still to come.

Her parents, Dylan and Keely Nolis, have been incredible contributors to the South Lake Tahoe community. Keely is a nurse at Barton Memorial Hospital.

Due to Charley being immunocompromised during her treatments, her parents have been forced to step away from their jobs and are focused on fighting this full time, along with caring for Charley’s twin sister, Leila.

Bike-a-thon Details

Adam DeVargas, Charley’s uncle by heart, will be competing in Best in the Desert’s “Vegas to Reno” off-road race. Choosing to run it “Iron Man style,” he will be sweating out all 500 miles by himself in one day. Adam is trying to raise money for this incredible family, which has faced immense challenges and deserves our support to help them overcome these difficult times. Adam is the owner of Full Access Tahoe, an off-roading UTV rental business in Tahoe and Carson City.

DeVargas is raising funds for the Nolis family by collecting one-time donations or pledges per mile.

The race will take place on Friday, August 15, starting at 6 a.m. There will be a link on the fundraising page, Miles 4 Charley, so the public can follow his progress live.

People can make a pledge or donation HERE, or get instructions on how to donate outside of the platform.
