CARSON CITY, Nev. – By Jeff Munson, CarsonNow.org…Carson City Fire Department, sheriff’s deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called Monday morning to a vehicle rollover involving a large dump truck near the intersection of I-580, South Carson Street and Highway 50 West Spooner.

Three people were taken to the hospital via ground ambulance and three others were evaluated for injuries. The incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. Five vehicles are involved, including the dump truck.

It was reported that one person was flown by air ambulance.

Carson Street northbound lanes have been closed and are being diverted to I-580 north, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Motorists can expect lengthy delays.

As of 1:54 p.m., both the NHP and NDOT websites are reporting the roadway is closed.

The dump truck, described as a diesel, is spilling fuel onto the roadway, according to first responders on scene. There was also reports of dirt scattered over the roadway.

This is the second such incident at the intersection in less than a week. On Tuesday, July 14, a semi rolled over at the intersection.

There have been a number of additional incidents at the intersection of S. Carson Street and the I-580/Highway 50 to Spooner interchange. Including several that have occurred just in the last few months. Here’s a dive back into the history of the intersection and some of the issues involved, including an overpass that was never built.

This is a developing story. We will update as information becomes available.
