SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of the continuation of several construction projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin this week.
Along State Route 28 (SR 28), construction on a $31.7 million pavement rehabilitation project continues. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka and on grinding bumps for smoothness and electrical work along SR 28 for the following dates/times/locations next week:
- Eastbound SR 28 between Commons Beach Road and Tahoe State Park, lane closure is scheduled from 7 p.m. Sunday, July 19 to 7 a.m. Monday, July 20.
- Between Sierra Terrace Road and Rocky Ridge Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Sunday, July 19 to 7 a.m. Monday, July 20.
- Between Tahoe State Park and Dollar Drive, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Monday, July 20 to 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 21.
- Between Old County Road and Center Street, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 21 to 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 22.
- Between Center Street and Estates Drive, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22 to 7 a.m. Thursday, July 23.
- Westbound SR 28 between Raccoon Street and Laurel Drive, lane closure is scheduled from 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22 to 7 a.m. Thursday, July 23 and from 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23 to 7 a.m. Friday, July 24.
- At National Avenue and Brassie Avenue, various lane closures are scheduled 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 20 through Thursday, July 23 and from 7 a.m. to noon Friday, July 24.
Along State Route 89 (SR 89), preparation work for a pavement rehabilitation project is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect at various locations between the Nevada/Placer County line in Truckee and Alpine Meadows Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, July 19 through Thursday, July 23. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 6 a.m. Friday, July 24.
In El Dorado County along SR 89, paint striping operations are scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect between the Alpine/El Dorado County line and the U.S. Highway 50 (U.S. 50) junction in Meyers from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday, July 20 through Thursday, July 23 and from 6 a.m. to noon Friday, July 24.
A broadband project on SR 89 along the West Shore is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
Broadband work is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect along SR 89 in Placer and El Dorado counties during the following dates and times:
- Between South Street and Blackwood Canyon Road and between SR 28 to Cedar Crest Avenue, various lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, July 19 through Thursday, July 23. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 7 a.m. Friday, July 24.
- Between Cascade Creek and Eagle Falls Trailhead, lane closure is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, July 19 to Thursday, July 23. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24.
- Between Cascade Road and Upper Emerald Bay Road, lane closure is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24.
Various lane closures are also scheduled for electrical work along eastbound and westbound U.S. 50 between SR 89 and Pioneer Trail around the clock from 7 a.m. Monday, July 20 to 7 a.m. Friday, July 24.
Motorists could encounter delays of up to 20 minutes at each location. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment and material availability, or other unexpected events.
