SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Valhalla Theatre is seeking performers for its upcoming production of The Revolutionists, Lauren Gunderson’s acclaimed contemporary comedy celebrating four extraordinary women who dare to challenge history.

Auditions will be held Monday, July 20, 2026, from 6:00–9:00 p.m. in the Grand Hall at Valhalla Tahoe.

Set in Paris during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror, The Revolutionists imagines an unforgettable meeting between playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former Queen Marie Antoinette, and revolutionary Marianne Angelle. Through sharp wit, heartfelt storytelling, and unexpected friendship, the play explores themes of courage, justice, creativity, and the enduring power of women’s voices.

Directed by Meg Peart, the production will be presented this fall in Valhalla Tahoe’s intimate Boathouse Theatre and welcomes performers from across the Lake Tahoe community.

Whether you’ve been on stage for years or are considering your very first audition, I hope you’ll join us.”

No prepared monologue is required. Auditions will consist of readings from provided sides, and actors may be asked to read for multiple roles.
Valhalla Theatre welcomes performers of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels and is committed to inclusive casting. Anyone who feels they are right for these roles is encouraged to audition.

Available Roles
● Olympe de Gouges – A fearless playwright, activist, and feminist.
● Charlotte Corday – A determined revolutionary driven by conviction.
● Marie Antoinette – The former Queen of France; charming, eccentric, and unexpectedly insightful.

Please note that the role of Marianne Angelle has already been cast.

Rehearsals begin the week of August 3 and will be held primarily on weekday evenings. Performances are scheduled for October 22–25, October 29–30, and November 1 in the Boathouse Theatre at Valhalla Tahoe.
