SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a Saturday morning collision between an Amazon box truck and Toyota truck near the highway’s intersection with Ice House Road.
The collision occurred at 7:35 a.m. according to CHP incident logs. No injuries are reported.
A 200 gallon methane tank attached to the box truck became detached, creating a possible hazmat situation and the highway was closed.
At 11:17 a.m., it was estimated the road would be closed for another 45-60 minutes as they safely clear the scene, remove all packages from the Amazon truck and tow the vehicles. At that time it will reopen to one lane.
