SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of the continuation of several construction projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin next week.
Along State Route 28 (SR 28), construction on a $31.7 million pavement rehabilitation project continues. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka, with various work scheduled along SR 28 next week:
- Paint striping operations between Old County Road and Tahoe State Park, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Sunday, July 26 to 7 a.m. Monday, July 27.
- Between Old County Road and Onyx Street, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Monday, July 27 to 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 28.
- Between Onyx Street and Estates Drive, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28 to 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 29.
- Eastbound, only along the shoulder, between Estates Drive and Raccoon Street, from 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 to 7 a.m. Thursday, July 30.
- Westbound, only along the shoulder, between the State Route 267 junction and Estates Drive from 7 p.m. Thursday, July 30 to 7 a.m. Friday, July 31.
- Electrical work is scheduled in the eastbound direction along the shoulder between Anderson Road and East Agatam Avenue from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Monday, July 27 through Thursday, July 30.
- Electrical work is scheduled in the westbound direction along the shoulder between the State Route 267 junction and East Agatam Avenue from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Monday, July 27 through Thursday, July 30.
Along State Route 89 (SR 89), preparation work for a pavement rehabilitation project is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect at various locations between the Nevada/Placer County line in Truckee and Alpine Meadows Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, July 26 through Friday, July 31.
In El Dorado County along SR 89, paint striping operations are scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect between the Alpine/El Dorado County line and the U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) junction in Meyers from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday, July 27 through Thursday, July 30 and from 6 a.m. to noon Friday, July 31.
A broadband project on SR 89 along the West Shore is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
Broadband work is scheduled along SR 89 in Placer and El Dorado counties during the following dates and times:
- Between Tahoe Park Avenue and the SR 28 junction in Tahoe City, one-way traffic control is scheduled starting each night at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 26 through Thursday, July 30. Work is scheduled to finish Monday, July 27 at 7 a.m., Tuesday, July 28 through Thursday, July 30 at 10 a.m. and Friday, July 31 at 7 a.m.
- Between Ellis Road and Tallac Avenue, one-way traffic control is scheduled starting each night at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 26 through Wednesday, July 29. Work is scheduled to start Thursday, July 30 at 6 p.m. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28. Work is scheduled to end at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Friday, July 31.
- Between Cascade Creek and Eagle Falls Trailhead, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, July 26 to Friday, July 31. No work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
- Between Sugar Pine Point State Park and Wilson Avenue, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, July 26 to Thursday, July 30. No work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
- Between Sugar Pine Point State Park and D.L. Bliss State Park, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 27 to Thursday, July 30. Work is also scheduled Friday, July 31 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Motorists could encounter delays of up to 20 minutes at each location. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment and material availability, and/or other unexpected events.
