INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – Yadessa Emiru Aga, 32, has been identified as the man who drowned at Sand Harbor Monday evening. According to a GoFundMe page set up for the Austin, Texas resident, Yadessa was returning from a church conference and spending time with close friends in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, when he died.
Donations will help cover the remaining costs of bringing him home and paying for funeral arrangements in both the United States and Ethiopia.
“To know Yadessa was to know genuine kindness, warmth, and joy,” stated his family on his fundraising page. “His humble spirit, contagious smile, and generous heart made everyone feel loved and welcomed. He was deeply cherished by his family, friends, church, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
On Yadessa’s LinkedIn page, it states he received his undergraduate degree from Mekelle University and a master’s from Maharishi University, both in Ethiopia.
Several bystanders were part of the attempted rescue efforts and brought him to shore when first responders arrived.
