UPDATE: US50 Eastbound and Westbound at SR28 are reduced to one travel lane, and travelers can expect lane control for the next one to three hours. On August 1, 2026, at approximately 1:22 p.m., the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a report of a two-vehicle injury crash on US50 at SR28 in Douglas County. This is located near Spooner Lake Rec Area.
This is a two-vehicle crash involving an SUV and a pickup truck. One person with serious injuries was transported by air ambulance to a local area hospital. Seven additional people were transported by ground ambulance to local area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Tahoe Douglas Fire, East Fork Fire and the Nevada Highway Patrol are on scene of a two-vehicle collision with injuries at the junction of US-50 and State Route 28 in Douglas County.
At 1:18 p.m. Douglas County dispatch alerted responders to the accident, described as a “head-on” involving a sedan and a pickup. First responders at the scene report major damage to the vehicles.
Rescue crews advised they were treating or evaluating as many as seven people. Their conditions are unknown at this time. A medical helicopter was ordered on standby. At least two patients were being taken by ambulance.
US-50 eastbound is closed at the scene of the accident. One westbound lane is open, according to dispatch.
Motorists can expect delays.
