UPDATE: The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) says US50 eastbound and westbound are reduced to one travel lane; traffic is being controlled by first responders on-scene. Lane closures will be adjusted as needed to facilitate the crash investigation and clearing of the crash scene.
This closure is expected for the next one to three hours.
On August 2, 2026, at approximately 7:27 p.m., NHP responded to a report of a two-vehicle head-on injury crash on US50 at the 10-mile marker in Douglas County. This is located between Glenbrook Rd and SR28, west of the Spooner Lake Rec Area.
This is a two-vehicle crash involving an SUV and a sedan. Two persons with serious injuries were transported by air ambulances to a local area hospital. One person was transported by ground ambulance to a local area hospital with unknown injuries.
Driver impairment is suspected as a factor in this crash.
LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision Sunday night on US-50 in the eastbound lane east of Cave Rock at Lake Tahoe, forcing the closure of the roadway in both directions. There are reports of multiple injuries.
Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded and are giving aid to those injured. The collision involves an SUV and sedan, according to NHP. It was reported at 7:25 p.m.
It is unknown at this time how many injuries there are, but at least one person has been flown by air ambulance, and three additional ground ambulances were called to the scene, according to NHP.
