SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – There are now updates to the story we first reported on Tuesday evening. On August 11, 2026, at approximately 6:36 p.m., officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to the report of a stabbing at Whole Foods on Lake Tahoe Blvd. Officers arrived on scene and located a 42-year-old male victim, a resident of South Lake Tahoe, being tended to by witnesses in the outdoor seating area at Whole Foods.

The victim had received multiple stab wounds and was transported to Barton Hospital by ambulance.

Officers learned the suspect had fled the area on foot and a description was obtained. Within five minutes, South Lake Tahoe officers located and detained the suspect on foot in the Ski Run Blvd. area. The suspect was identified as a 15-year-old male juvenile of South Lake Tahoe.

Detectives were called out to the scene to continue the investigation. The investigation revealed the suspect and the victim are unknown to each other, and the stabbing was unprovoked. The juvenile suspect was booked into the El Dorado County Juvenile Treatment Center for attempted murder and is being held without bail. The case remains an active investigation.

The victim remains in the hospital, in stable condition.
