On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Mayor Pro Tem (at the time) Cody Bass ended the public comment section of the city council meeting by deviating from the normal order of business to address his September 25, 2025 arrest, former Mayor Wallace’s own October 13, 2025 resignation letter calling for Bass to resign, as well as the many public comments calling for his resignation.
Mayor Pro Tem Bass stated he had no intention of resigning. However, in the same meeting, when Bass sought to fill Mayor Wallace’s vacancy, he said that “if convicted, I would step down.”
Well, Mayor Bass, you have indeed been convicted on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
