SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Fiscal Year 2026-2027 (FY 2027) Recommended Budget will be presented and discussed at the City Council Budget Workshop on August 25, 2026, starting at 9 a.m. The total City budget across all funds is approximately $186.5 million, including approximately $71.3 million for the Primary General Fund and $8.6 million for the Measure S Sales Tax General Fund.
Before the council gets to the budget, there are several items on the consent agenda and one other item on new business. They will discuss and possibly vote on a motion to approve a waiver of building and planning permitting fees of up to $36,000 for a pickleball and tennis courts project proposal at Lake Tahoe Community College. The City is part of the Joint Powers Authority Community Play Consortium. LTCC is paying about $1,289,700 for the project, and a private donor is paying about $1,000,000. The City is being asked not to pay cash, but just to waive the fees.
The consent agenda: Construction Agreement for El Dorado Beach Revetment Phase 2 with Globe Engineering Development for $697,600; An agreement with the California Tahoe Conservancy to coordinate fuels reduction efforts on the Lyon’s Ranch project and the City’s SNPLMA Hazardous Fuels Reduction project at the Lake Tahoe Airport; and Upper Bijou Park Creek Watershed Restoration Project and Construction Agreement Award for Tamarack Culvert Replacement Project.
The proposed budget for fiscal year 2026-27 includes expenditure appropriations for all funds in FY 2027, amounting to $186.5 million, including $71.3 million in Primary General Fund appropriations and $8.6 million in Measure S Sales Tax general fund appropriations


As required by City Code and the City’s financial policy, approximately $17.3 million is maintained to satisfy the City’s 25 percent General Fund committed reserve requirement.
