SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – No one was injured Wednesday morning as a single-engine Cessna experienced difficulties upon landing at Lake Tahoe Airport in South Lake Tahoe. At approximately 8:50 a.m. August 26, 2026, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR), South Lake Tahoe Police Department, and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office responded to the north runway at the airport on the report of a plane incident.
Upon arrival, first responders found that the pilot had self-extricated with no reported injuries.
There was no fire or hazmat issue, so as a precaution, SLTFR placed a wet line around the plane for safety reasons.
The FAA and NTSB will investigate the cause of the incident, and no other information is available at this time.
At this time, the airport is closed to all air traffic until the aircraft is removed.
The scene has been turned over to Interim Airport Manager Milan Jevic, who is following all protocol to remove the aircraft and reopen the runway.
