SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Sierra House Elementary School is on track to reopen on September 9. Students at the South Lake Tahoe school were unable to start classes on August 26 with the rest of the kids in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) after their school was not ready after a fire caused major damage on November 11, 2018.

Teachers are set to start their move back into the school on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 3. School officials will be in touch with students and families on September 4 on their final classroom assignments and other pertinent information.

LTUSD provided an update to parents and teachers on what has been completed since the announcement was made that classes would not start on the 26th:

– Tackboard is on power walls in all classrooms. Wiremold is installed in all 8 classrooms.
– Fire alarm devices are about 50 percent in classrooms and corridors. They should be complete for the whole site by next Wednesday. Complete in portables and lower pod. Fire Alarm testing is Thursday morning with fire marshal.
