PLACER/EL DORADO COUNTIES – Caltrans is advising motorists of the continuation of several construction projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin next week.

Along State Route 28 (SR 28), construction on a $31.7 million pavement rehabilitation project continues. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka. 

  • Concrete work between West Agatam Avenue and Anderson Road; westbound lane closure is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10. Work is also scheduled from 7 a.m. to noon on Friday, September 11.
  • Concrete work between Beaver Street and Fox Street, westbound lane closure is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10. Work is also scheduled from 7 a.m. to noon Friday, September 11.

Along State Route 89 (SR 89), construction on a $20.8 million pavement rehabilitation project continues, with pavement work scheduled and one-way traffic control in effect at various locations between the Nevada/Placer County line in Truckee and Alpine Meadows Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 8 through Thursday, September 10. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 6 a.m. Friday, September 11. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

A broadband project on SR 89 along the West Shore is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is also Teichert Construction.

Broadband work is scheduled along SR 89 in Placer County during the following dates and times:

  • Between Sugar Pine Road and Sequoia Avenue (South), one-way traffic control is scheduled nightly from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, September 8 through Thursday, September 10. Work is scheduled to end for the week at 7 a.m. Friday, September 11.

Broadband work is scheduled along SR 89 in El Dorado County during the following dates and times:

  • Between Cathedral Road and Upper Emerald Bay Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 8 p.m. Thursday, September 10 to 7 a.m. Friday, September 11.
  • Between Mount Tallac Road/Baldwin Beach Road and 4 Ring Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, September 10.
  • Between Upper Emerald Bay Road and the El Dorado/Placer County Line, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, September 10 and from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, September 11.

Motorists could encounter delays of up to 20 minutes at each location. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and the upcoming Labor Day holiday. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment and material availability, or other unexpected events.
