DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – Douglas County School Board Trustee Erinn Miller was arrested by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on September 8 on charges that she allegedly embezzled over $125,000 from Whittel High School and Zephyr Cove Elementary.
As of Tuesday, there has been no indication that Miller is resigning from the school board. She is currently in the Douglas County Jail on a $25,000 bond hold.
The school district made a statement Tuesday evening following Miller’s arrest:
Douglas County School District is aware that Erinn Miller, a member of our Board of Trustees, is involved in a personal legal matter.
We want to assure our community that there is no indication that this situation is connected to her role as a Trustee with the district. The Board of Trustees does not have oversight or control of independent parent or booster organizations and is not involved in their operations. The Board continues to focus on our students, staff, and the important work of the district without distraction.
We respect the judicial process and believe it is important to allow that process to move forward without speculation or additional comment.
As this is a personal matter, the district will not be providing further statements. All inquiries should be directed to the Superintendent’s Office.
