STATELINE, Nev. – A large party in Lake Village on Saturday, Sept. 5, turned into the arrest of one adult, one teen, and twenty juveniles being cited for consuming alcohol.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) responded to the Lake Village area on a complaint about noise and parking. The person calling stated there were intoxicated individuals in the area and illegally parked cars on Lake Village Drive. Witnesses said as many as 100 young people were at a party. Upon arrival, one deputy pinpointed the three-story townhome where the party was underway. According to his report, he saw teens on one of the balconies. When the teens noticed him, they used profanity about law enforcement directed at him and began throwing bottles and other items at him, his vehicle, and the other deputies who were arriving.

The items being thrown were later identified as Twisted Tea cans, glass bottles, and a Mike’s Hard Lemonade box.

When deputies approached the home, they found the front door open and inside saw approximately 30 juveniles inside and detected the smell of alcohol and marijuana. They asked the youth to sit down while a responsible party for the residence could be located.

The owner of the home came downstairs and told DCSO that he had allowed his 15-year-old daughter to have her soccer team over for a get-together. He said he realized the ensuing party was getting out of hand and told deputies he asked his daughter to send them all home. One girl, who deputies said was impaired, tried to push them out of her way so she could leave when they told all of the youth to stay inside. Friends attempted to restrain her and prevent her from leaving. She refused to comply with friends’ attempts to hold her back. She was transported to Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with obstruction and minor consuming alcohol.

The parents or guardians were called for each of the 30 juveniles and asked to retrieve them from the Lake Village home. As they were leaving, DCSO took preliminary breath test (PBT) samples. Those indicating the presence of
alcohol were cited.

Deputies determined the homeowner was aware, or should have been aware, of what was happening inside his home due to the loud music and yelling. It was from his bedroom balcony that the teens were throwing items at the deputies. They said that due to the layout of the home with multiple stairs and balconies, the conditions were unsafe for the drinking youth.

The arresting deputy said he was unable to identify all of the youth in the home, so he charged the suspect with the number who were cited themselves.
