It was another banner meal event for the dinner guests attending Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal on September 21. The late afternoon meal featured the second ‘Steak Night’ since August and was hosted by the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) Leadership Team. After hosting their first Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) in the Fall of 2025, the LTUSD Leadership Team returned to help the Bread & Broth volunteers serve a variety of steaks, fried potatoes, broccoli with a cheese sauce, and a Caesar salad.
It was a very busy night for the LTUSD Leadership Team AAD crew members, serving a record number of guests – 173! The enthusiastic and helpful LTUSD Leadership team consisted of Alana Cayabyab, educational services coordinator; Diana D’Angelo, executive assistant to CBO; Karen Goldberg, director of student services; Marimar Perez-Banuet, director of finance; Marimar’s mother, Lilly Angulo; and Justin Zunino, principal, South Tahoe High School.
The steaks, which were donated by Save Mart, were done to perfection by B&B Lead Cook, Billy Marchetti, and his cooking team members, and were perfectly complemented by the side dishes along with a variety of delicious desserts provided by our local grocery stores.
As a bonus to the delicious meal, the dinner guests were provided with a bag filled with fresh fruit and vegetables and a selection of dairy products, meats, and a variety of food staple items enough to fill one to two more bags. In addition to being on the serving line, the LTUSD Leadership Team members helped pack food bags and arrange and help serve at the food giveaway, dessert, and drink tables. With the increase in the number of dinner guests served, the help provided by the hardworking LTUSD team members with the meal’s setup and cleanup was greatly appreciated.
When asked for comments on their participation in the evening meal event, the LTUSD Leadership Team came together to share, “We are so grateful to participate in this incredible service to the community. Bread & Broth is a gift to those in need, and it is our pleasure to do our small part to help out. Thank you, Bread & Broth.”
It is not surprising that LTUSD Leadership Team members hosted a Bread & Broth meal.
These are the individuals in the community who devote themselves to ensuring that the youth of our community have the best opportunity to be educated, providing them with the tools needed to be successful in life. Hosting a Bread & Broth meal is just an extension of their care and concern for all of South Tahoe’s community members.
