LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of various lane closures next week due to multiple construction projects in the Lake Tahoe region.

In Tahoe City along State Route 28 (SR 28), work continues on a $31.7 million Caltrans pavement rehabilitation project. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka. Work is scheduled from 7 p.m. Sunday, October 5, until noon Wednesday, October 8, between Jackpine Street and Mackinaw Road. Crews will be grinding the existing pavement during the overnight/early morning hours and paving during the daytime hours. Access to cross streets and driveways will remain open; however, no street parking will be permitted in the construction zone

The $10.6 million Fanny Bridge project continues with placement of the bridge deck concrete scheduled for Monday, October 6. The new Fanny Bridge is scheduled to reopen to all traffic Saturday, November 15. During the project, traffic will detour onto Lake Boulevard bypass to access State Route 89 (SR 89) and SR 28. West Lake Boulevard remains open for business and transit center access with only the Fanny Bridge being closed. The pedestrian and bicycle path across the Truckee River Dam will remain open throughout the project. The project is led by the Federal Highway Administration and the contractor is Thompson Builders of Novato.
