VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. – Family-friendly Pumpkin Patch excursions and spine-tingling Graveyard Train rides return this October with costumes, pumpkins and thrills for all ages. The Virginia Truckee Railroad is serving up two spirited adventures for the whole family: cheerful Pumpkin Patch excursions by day and delightfully eerie Graveyard Train rides by night. Pumpkin Patch passengers will board at the historic 1870s F Street Depot in Virginia City, then roll to the Gold Hill Depot Pumpkin Patch, where friendly helpers will assist each guest in choosing a favorite pumpkin. Costumes are welcome, and every ticket includes a pumpkin! Open-air cars make warm layers a must. The Pumpkin Patch Train runs Oct. 10–11, 16–18 and 23–25 at 11:20 a.m., 1:20 p.m. and 3 p.m. Special Dusk trains are offered on Friday October 16 and 23 evenings at 5pm.  Fares are $27 for adults, $19 for children ages 5–12 and $8 for toddlers under age 4. These trains fill quickly, so reservations are strongly recommended.

When the sun goes down, the scares roll in. The Haunted Halloween Graveyard Train promises to be a season highlight. On Oct. 29, 30 and 31, the four-mile, 40-minute route between Virginia City and Gold Hill comes alive as creepy characters and trapped souls emerge along the tracks. Keep watch as the train glides through the dark in open-air cars toward the Gold Hill Graveyard—and prepare to meet the Executioner, if you dare!

Come ride through the haunted Comstock Lode—just remember to dress warmly. Trains depart at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Oct. 29, 30 and 31. Adult fare is $26; tickets for children ages 5–12 are $19.

Wear your costume, bring your bravest crew and get ready for a chillingly good time!
