Gabriel Lee Strong, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on September 2, 2026, at the age of 32.
Gabriel was an avid rock climber who especially loved climbing and bouldering in Yosemite, around Lake Tahoe, and in many other beautiful places. His love of the outdoors and the mountains was a meaningful part of who he was.
Gabriel had an infectious laugh and a smile that brought out smiles in those around him. Even while fighting his own hard battles, he brought his own light and joy to the people around him, and he will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Gabriel worked fighting wildfires as a ground crew member, performing difficult and demanding work alongside his team to help protect the lands he loved. He had planned to finish his studies at Lake Tahoe Community College’s Fire Academy this year, but tragically, his life ended before he could complete the program.
Gabriel is survived by his father, James Strong of Silver Springs, Nev.; his mother, Andrea Strong Wolf, formerly of South Lake Tahoe; and his sister, Amanda Strong, of South Lake Tahoe. He is preceded in death by his eldest sister, Jasmine Marie Strong, who passed in infancy.
Gabriel’s memory will live on in the mountains and wild places he cherished, and in the hearts of those who loved him.
Gabriel’s family and friends will gather on Saturday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate his life at a memorial service at 2733 Lake Tahoe Blvd, the Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church, across from the American Legion. A reception will follow.
