Teams of trained volunteers will visit local businesses to speak directly with owners and managers about current business conditions, emerging opportunities, and the challenges affecting their ability to thrive.

Business Walks provide a snapshot of the regional economy by asking businesses what is working, what is getting in the way, and what support they need. An online survey will be available concurrently so businesses throughout the Tahoe Basin can participate, including those not reached in person.

Media representatives may accompany a Business Walk team, interview participating businesses and volunteers, and speak with Tahoe Prosperity Center staff and regional partners about the initiative.

Tahoe Business Walks are conducted every two years to help the region understand what local businesses are experiencing and how conditions are changing. In 2024, nearly 500 businesses participated, identifying housing affordability, infrastructure, workforce needs, and the importance of tourism among the issues shaping Tahoe’s regional economy. The 2026 Business Walks will explore what has changed and what businesses need now. The information gathered will help the Tahoe Prosperity Center and its partners identify shared priorities and inform future programs, partnerships, and economic development efforts across the Tahoe Basin. Findings will be compiled and shared with regional partners and the community. Businesses can participate by speaking with a visiting team or completing the online survey.

Community members can also volunteer to join a Business Walk team.
