Election day, Tuesday, November 3, is fast approaching. The ballot is quite lengthy, not to be taken lightly. I find the nonpartisan decisions to be very refreshing, especially in the current divisive political climate at all levels.

Like City Council, the City Clerk is an elected, nonpartisan position. The City Clerk position is extremely demanding, and as such, experience is fundamentally critical to stepping into this role.

Michelle Davis has been our Assistant City Clerk for three years, working and learning under the wings of Susan (Blankenship) Carpenter, arguably one of the best City Clerks ever. As Ms. Blankenship has been preparing to transition out of the City Clerk position, it has created even more opportunity for Ms. Davis to step up and expand. This type of experience is invaluable!

With the recent departures of our City Manager and City Attorney, and potential changes coming on the City Council, consistency is needed in our local government. We can ensure consistency when we elect Michelle Davis as our new City Clerk.
