Serving you is an honor, and being returned to office unopposed is a trust I don’t take lightly. Thank you to everyone for every conversation, whether at our meetings, in the grocery store, or on the trail. Your contributions shape this work, and I’m committed to keeping that partnership strong.

Local elections affect our daily lives, from the leaders we elect to the measures that shape the future of our community. Your voice matters, and it’s never louder than at the ballot box.

There is yet another Measure S on the ballot this November. We’ve all been getting the mailers and seeing the signs around town. I’d like to take a moment to break down how the revenue from this proposed tax increase would be spent and how it would affect our Tahoe community:

This is how the sales tax revenue would be distributed in 2029 (as an example):

This means that after the first year, the funding will likely be divided as follows:
Annually, Marshall Hospital’s debt service (to pay for seismic earthquake service enhancements and facilities, equipment and technology updates) will be paid first, followed by the non-profit allocations. Once the debt service and non-profit allocations are paid, the remainder of the revenue will then be allocated among the various fire agencies.

I hope this information is useful to each of you as you consider your vote on this matter.

Decisions like this one belong to the voters, and our community is at its best when we make them informed. I encourage you to ask questions and talk with your neighbors. However you choose to vote, please vote. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Thank you for caring so deeply about this place we all call home.
