Chance of snow at 10,000 ft

While many have found the warm temperatures enjoyable, others want the fall season to get underway so winter and snow can head into South Lake Tahoe.

Another glimpse of fall starts Thursday with a 40% chance of scattered showers during the day and evening. Rain doesn’t last long, with the area of low pressure moves out, leaving upper 60s and sunny skies starting Monday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) there is a slight chances for thunderstorms mainly south of Interstate 80 on Thursday and Friday. A second system will phase with this first system over the weekend bringing chances for showers across all of the Sierra, northeast California, and northwest Nevada. Snow levels will be quite high for the first system – around 11,500-12,000 feet, and with slightly cooler air coming in for the weekend, they may drop as low as 10,000 feet.
