10/18/18 UPDATE – The power outage in South Lake Tahoe Wednesday night was caused by line failure at the corner of Dunlap and Eloise. The cause is unknown at this time but a spokesperson for Liberty Utilities said it may have been wind induced.

Almost 8,000 customers were without power with 3,000 of them having power restored within 30-40 minutes. The staggered re-energization brought most of the remaining customers back in two hours with the final two up at 5:00 a.m.
