SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – It has been a warm fall season to date, with above-record highs, but was this weekend an end to those 70s for Lake Tahoe?
Most likely yes.
A pattern change will start this week after a warm and dry weekend wraps up Sunday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. The change will include gusty winds and increasing chances of rain, mountain snow, thunderstorms, and much cooler temperatures by mid-week for the Lake Tahoe Basin. Lower elevations will experience critical fire weather.
Winds will increase Monday afternoon with S/SW gusts of 25-35 mph across NE California, E Sierra valleys, and far W Nevada. Ridgetop gusts will reach 50-70 mph at times through early Tuesday.
After a rainy Tuesday and Wednesday, expect more fall-weather, including much cooler temperatures and chilly nights sticking around through the remainder of the week.
