On October 13, the Heavenly Mountain Resort’s Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) team members were looking forward to hosting Bread & Broth’s (B&B) Monday Meal and the snow that was forecast for that evening and the following day.   Both the community meal and the onset of a winter storm were meaningful to the Heavenly team as they would be helping the vulnerable members of the Lake Tahoe South Shore community and celebrating a great start to the ski/snowboard season.

Sponsoring a hot, nutritious meal on the cusp of a winter storm was a great way for Heavenly Mountain Resort to help their fellow community members and enjoy the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who would be joining their fellow community members at St. Theresa Grace Hall for a free full-course dinner.  The early evening meal was a perfect fit for the cold weather, featuring Carolina ribs, mac & cheese, roasted broccoli along with drink choices and a tempting variety of desserts.

Volunteering their time to represent Heavenly Mountain Resort that evening were Heavenly team members Brian Bigley and his son Hudson Bigley, Brandon Bisordi, Tyler DeVol, and Stefan Watkins.  For the first hour, the AAD crew members and the B&B volunteers readied the Hall for the meal and packed the food giveaway bags, then at 4 p.m. the Heavenly team moved to the serving line to greet the dinner guests and fill their trays with the evening’s dinner fare.

Serving 115 diners was quite the experience for Hudson who shared, “I was born and raised here in South Tahoe.  So glad I am able to come help out the community.”   He also praised  the Bread & Broth cooks, saying,  “the chefs did an amazing job on the ribs!”  The dinner guests also agreed as they expressed their enjoyment of the perfectly cooked Carolina ribs and the accompanying dishes.

Appreciation goes to the Heavenly Mountain Resort’s team members for their ongoing support and dedication in donating their time to help at Heavenly’s AAD sponsorship meal and bring their enthusiasm and great work ethic to make the meal a success for the local community members.  Thanks are also extended to the Vail Corporation for its EpicPromise Grant Program, which funds the AAD sponsorship for the two local Vail Resorts.
